宫廷铜鎏金地狱主是藏传佛教重要的修行本尊，相传为文殊菩萨降魔时的忿怒化现。据佛经记述，虔心供奉地狱主，能够抵御外界的各种灾难，此尊就展现了地狱主的威严样貌。地狱主发丝向上飞扬，状如火焰。头戴五骷髅冠，呈现忿怒水牛面相。上身裸露，躯体壮硕，腹部圆鼓，项挂五十人头鬘，展现出忿怒本尊所具的无上降伏威力。左手持羁索外展，右手高举权杖（已失）。腰饰华丽璎珞，以左展立姿态踩在嘶吼公牛身上。身下所踩公牛压于邪魔身上，所承莲座莲瓣宽大朴素，联珠圆润规整。整像造型生动，工艺精湛，将忿怒本尊的怖畏展露无遗，符合清代内地造像精细、工整的艺术风貌，堪称18世纪内地本尊造像的精彩力作，甚值珍视之。
