NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE FIGURED MAPLE AND PINE SECRETARY / DESK AND BOOKCASE, in two parts, the pine bookcase top having an applied cove-molded cornice above two raised-panel doors attached with wrought-iron, surface mounted hinges, proper right door fitted with a cabinet lock, concealing three fixed shelves on each side with center divider, the maple desk having a dovetailed case with unfinished top board, hinged slanting lip-molded fall board concealing a simple fitted interior featuring nine upright cubby holes, a horizontal ledger hole, and five dovetailed drawers, above four graduated lip-molded drawers, all raised on an applied molded and cut-out bracket-foot base. Pine and basswood secondary woods. Old, but not original wooden knobs. Early, possibly original stained/pigmented surfaces with excellent patina, desk interior with original painted surfaces. Mid 18th century. 75 3/4" H, 35 1/2" W, 18" D. Very good original condition, some old repairs/patching to hinge area of interior, less than normal small repairs to drawer lips, expected usage wear.
