NEW ENGLAND PAINTED LADDER-BACK ARM CHAIR, back with four slightly graduated shaped spats supported on turned posts topped with ring and ball finials, shaped arms terminating in lollipop rests, supported on turned front posts matching the rear posts, joined by box-form stretchers, the front two with ring and ball turnings. Early black-ash splint woven seat. Retains an old black-painted surface with delicate yellow pin striping. Late 18th/early 19th century. 48 1/4" HOA, 17 1/4" H seat, 16" D seat.
