IMPORTANT SCREEN (BYÔBU) WITH BIRDS, PLUMS AND BAMBOO. Japan. Edo period (1603-1868). 17th/18th c. Kanô Chikanobu (1660-1728), attributed. Six-part. Ink, partly washed and a few pigments on paper, partly with gold speckles. Narrow brocade frame, fabric frame, wooden frame. Under an old, flowering plum tree, a pair of pheasants with a chick. He looks around at the flock geese high up. A pair of mandarin ducks swims on the water. The representation mainly in ink and interrupted by clouds. Picture size 355 x 161cm. Complete size 370 x 176.5cm. Sign.: Chikanobu hitsu & seal. Condition A/B. Damaged and partly restored, a few cracks. Schmaler Brokatrahmen, Stoffrahmen, Holzrahmen. Unter einem alten, blühenden Pflaumenbaum ein Paar Fasane mit einem Küken. Er blickt sich nach den weit oben ziehenden Gänsen um. Auf einem Gewässer schwimmt ein Paar Mandarinenten. Die Darstellung vornehmlich in Tusche und durch Wolken unterbrochen. Bildmaß 355 x 161cm. Gesamtmaß 370 x 176,5cm. Sign.: Chikanobu hitsu & Siegel.
