INDIANA DATED DOUBLE WEAVE COVERLET, dark blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels, center featuring foliate and geometric motif pattern, flower border to two sides, bottom border of two-story country house and trees, bottom edge with fringe. Bottom corners signed "YEAR 1842" over a sailing ship. Attributed to the Gilmour Family, Dunlapsville, Union Co., IN. Dated 1842. 79" x 70" with fringe. Very good overall condition with some scattered stains, top edge with spots of wear and a few holes being possibly rolled and mended, one side edge with area of tears, a small hole in cotton on back to one side border, bottom edge with a patch near one corner and scattered losses to fringe, one house with likely weaving imperfections.
