AMERICAN "PUMPKIN" APPLIQUE QUILT, hand-stitched, red, chrome yellow, green, double pink, and white fabrics, four pattern blocks of a crossed flower motif having outline and grid quilting, a flowering-vine border to each side, running plume, outline, and grid quilting, narrow applied binding, four-panel plain backing with later applied hanging sleeve. Circa 1870. 87 1/2" x 85". Very good overall condition, top with overall light toning and some scattered stains, two mirroring mended areas near center with one having patch, two mends, a small hole, and a tear on binding at one corner, backing in similar condition with light toning mostly along edges and fold lines, two small holes in one quadrant near center fold line.
