A Directoire gilt and patinated bronze mantel clock
There are several variants of this allegorical clock depicting an Amerindian hunter, sometimes on a boat (for example Christie's Monaco on 17 June 2000, lot 320, the enamelled dial signed "Armingaud Lné à Paris") and sometimes as here on a chariot decorated with a dragon. A clock of this model is kept in the François Duisberg Museum in Mons.
