A fine example of the work of Henri Jacot, nephew of Henri Jacot (who died in 1868) considered to be the founder of the travel clock industry. The Jacot company continued his work until 1920.
See Charles Allix, Carriage Clocks, their history and development, Woodbridge 1974, 113-116. "Jacot was probably the best of the four leading Paris producers of carriage clocks towards the end of the nineteenth century" (113).
Founded in 1861, Hamman & Koch were importers in the United States of French products, particularly clocks and bronzes.
