In chased, patinated and gilded bronze, the dial signed "Baret à Paris" inscribed in a bollard surmounted by an Indian figure symbolising America, a crocodile at its feet, its tail wrapped around a palm tree, resting on a shower base; fitted with a modern mahogany and red felt base (not illustrated)

The model of this clock comes from a drawing by Deverberie (1764-1824) dated Pluviôse year VII (early 1799), kept in the Prints and Drawings Department of the Bibliothèque National de France in Paris and illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P.Pröschel, et al. "Vergoldete Bronzen", Munich, 1986, p.381, fig.5.12.28. A clock of this model was sold by Christie's Amsterdam, 3-4 April 2012, lot 513. Its dial was signed "Deverberie
and Int. Ft. Re Barbet Paris".
