RINGING CHANNEL HANGING FOR PASSAGE, DEMAND AND MUSIC WITH CALENDERIC INDICATIONS Signed 'Jacob Maier in Wien', second quarter of the 18th century
Annular brass dial applied to a gilded brass plate with an engraved arch, Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, moon phase windows, balance movement and date at the centre, openworked iron hands, subsidiary dials for (in the centre of the arch) date, month and zodiac signs with their corresponding symbols, melody selection, ringing/silent ringing, balance and striking adjustment, gilt, openworked and chased bronze corner pieces ; rectangular rocket movement, horizontal rod escapement, single pendulum with silk wire suspension, six-stamp chime for music, pull repetition, rear plate fully engraved with foliage symmetrically arranged around the signature ; oak cabinet veneered with red tortoiseshell and brass plates with tortoiseshell, stained horn and pewter marquetry, Corinthian brass columns with marquetry, on rectangular bases, gilded and chased bronze bezel and terraces, upper corner pieces in the form of vases bearing feathers
