因为佛陀在论经说法时声音嘹亮，犹如大海螺的声音传彻四方，后世遂以海螺之音代表佛陀的法音，故称之为法螺，为藏传佛教“吉祥八宝”之一。此件法螺为极为罕见的右旋法螺，螺顶有三道回旋，螺身比例匀称，秀美非凡。外表呈乳白色，顶端饰蓝色琉璃，色彩亮丽雅致，极富宗教的神圣美感，法螺开口外沿浅刻“须弥福寿妙高庄严殿乾隆四十五年中秋月恭供”款识。乾隆四十五年（1780 年），西藏六世班禅为庆贺乾隆帝 70 大寿，从日喀则扎什伦布寺启程，来到承德，乾隆帝为隆重迎接六世班禅的到来，仿日喀则扎什伦布寺在承德特建立须弥福寿之庙。“妙高庄严殿”，俗称金瓦殿，是庙中最大的殿，供六世班禅讲经和居住。可见，此法螺为宫廷御赐，且为供养六世班禅大师的御赐圣物，其宗教加持力非同一般，期待有缘之人迎请供奉。
