在佛教中，药师佛被尊奉为东方净琉璃世界的教主。因其能拔除众生因疾病所造成的痛苦和劫难，从而倍受佛教信徒的礼敬。此尊宝顶庄严，螺发高耸，大耳齐颌，耳廓分明，面形方圆，双眉高挑，秀目微阖，神态祥和。身着袒右肩袈裟，衣物质感厚重，褶皱自然。左手结禅定印，右手结施与印，并握持药丸，为药师佛的典型标志，全跏趺坐于仰莲座之上。莲台为汉地传统样式，莲瓣刻画细致。整像造型端庄，气韵古拙，中正平和的面容、端庄挺拔的身姿显露出汉地文化传统对明代造像艺术的影响，实为明代汉地造像精品。
