此水仙盆以汉白玉为材雕就，形制简练，长方体形，两侧减地浮雕之法，饰硕大的仿古兽面纹，底承三矮足。汉白玉以其洁白无瑕的色泽，坚实而又细腻的质地，易于奏刀的特性而被广泛用于名贵建筑装饰材料。史料记载，我国从汉代起就用这种宛若美玉的石材修筑宫殿，装饰庙宇，雕刻佛像，点缀堂室。
