此炉造型端庄典雅，炉体略高，但整体比例完美，尤显精神。蚰耳丰盈灵动，粗细适中，线条过渡自然，工艺细腻。圈足外撇，铜质精良，压手感强，通体黄中泛红，红中泛黄，颇有一番韵味。
底铸刻“大明宣德五年监督工部官臣吴邦佐造”楷书款，开框见方，十六字楷书布局严谨，结体有度。此类吴邦佐款识明代已见，吴邦佐为宣德时铸铜名匠，其为宫廷的宗朝社堂，铸造了大批铜器，同时还“私铸”铜炉出售，皆精美绝伦，为世人十分所珍。但传世所见“吴邦佐”款识炉，多为后人追膜后仿之作，此炉庄重典雅，大气蔚然，乃属精品。
