《宫中·进单》记载各地官员以及皇亲贵戚等按例向历朝皇帝、皇后、皇太后进贡物品的重要数据所列，在各种进贡物品中，如意往往居于首位。由于这种异常重要的地位，如意的制作成为了清代工艺品中最精湛独特的一个门类。此柄紫檀嵌玉如意，标准的三镶作法，于头、腹、及尾部各嵌美玉一块，玉质细腻洁白，镂空雕芦苇大雁，柄上浅刻花卉，于手把部位刻“千金如意，嘉庆丁丑仲春月，曹山彦题并刻，山彦”。
