木胎漆金观音，天衣横披，面容慈祥肃穆，肩侧伸展多支手臂，或持法物，或结手印，工艺复杂，较为少见。“千手观音”全称“千手千眼观世音菩萨”，又称“千眼千臂观世音菩萨”，是佛教六观音之一，千手观音是阿弥陀佛的左胁侍，与阿弥陀佛、大势至菩萨（阿弥陀佛的右胁侍）合称为“西方三圣”。经传观音分身成四十二个大慈大悲菩萨，后又由其师傅无量佛点化生成一体，意在利益安乐一切众生。佛教认为，众生的苦难和烦恼多种多样，众生的需求和愿望不尽相同。因此，就应有众多的无边法力和智慧去度济众生。
