此玉觥为整块白玉雕就，玉质温润，器形及纹饰皆仿商周之际青铜器，古朴华美，蕴含装饰趣味，是明清仿古玉的一个重要器形。玉觥略呈长方形，宽流，盖面做有角的兽头状，口沿及圈足均阴线刻云雷纹一周，器身下腹部浅浮雕螭龙纹带饰。构思巧妙，雕工精细。明清之际这一类玉器的造型丰富，雕工、纹饰复杂，宫廷造办处琢制了很多此类仿古器物。在宫廷中多用于陈设，是宫廷中不为多见的观赏玉器。北京故宫博物院藏有一件清玉蟠螭觥，也为此类作品。
