观音像以沉香木整雕而成，菩萨广额高髻，身披袈裟，手持念珠，赤足而立，面容慈悲，气息沉静，巧借沉香木纹天然肌理与木纹，衣纹堆叠，有实有虚，虚实结合，更显仙风道骨，脱俗不凡。整体拙朴稳重，质感极强，是一件少见的清代沉香雕刻品。沉香，又名“沉水香”、“水沉香”，香品高雅，十分难得，自古以来即被列为众香之首，深受文人喜爱欣赏。宋朝俗谚云 “一两沉香一两金”，即称其贵重。明清两代，宫廷皇室皆崇尚用沉香木制成各类文房器物。
