A small school girl has dropped her exercise books and an ink glass on a wide large terrace above a town, the ink has flowed over the exercise books. The girl in a red jacket with a white knee-length skirt is standing there crying with her head nodded down. In an interesting way, the painter has transposed the actual events to the right side of the picture and at the same time provides a view: from the terrace over the densely built, nearby hills of a city, between the white shining pillars of the terrace grid, the view leads to the houses of a big city street. In the foreground, several flowerpots and tonjardinières, which are obviously not yet fully planted, point to spring. The painting is of high pictorial and qualitative realism, a well-known quality of the master's works. (1222241) (11)
