Roosevelt Franklin FDR Display on the New Deal of 3 items on WH Stationary One could not imagine any Roosevelt items that exist more evocative of the New Deal than this trio of world class items. The most valuable of the 3 is an extremely rare ALS to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 73rd congress, which implemented the new deal, Henry T. Rainey. Signed in full on White House stationary which reads in full: "June 11, 1934 Dear Henry, Will you read this to the House if you approve? I want to tell you once more of my affection regards and my deep appreciation of all you have done and are doing. It has been a grand session, the best in all history - as ever yours, Franklin D. Roosevelt." The letter he transmits, also on White house stationary, and also to Henry T. Rainey, reads in full: "June 16, 1934. My dear Mr. Speaker: Before the final adjournment of the House of Representatives of the seventy third congress, I want to send through you to the member there of, my sincere compliments and good wishes. This Congress will go down into history as one of large accomplishments for the national good. May I add to this my own feeling of satisfaction in the fine spirit of cooperation which has existed between the Legistraive and the Executive branches of the government. May you all have and enjoy and well earned holiday. Very sincerely yours, Franklin D. Roosevelt" Also included is a fantastic and perhaps unique photo measuring 10" x 8.5" Harrison Ewing photo picturing Charles Evans Hughes swearing in FDR for his first term of office. It is beaufifully signed "Franklin D. Roosevelt", "Jno N. Garner", his Vice President and "Charles E. Hughes". Both Hughes and Garner add the date of the inauguration, March 4, 1933. To round out the display is a beautiful presentation in calligraphy, quoting the adjournment of the 73rd congress remarks of Congressmen Snyder which includes the famous quote "In conclusion I wish to say that all the facts from all the departments of Government prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that the New Deal has not only brought relief for the farmers and the laborers of the Nation, but it has also restored confidence, nation-wide and world-wide" It is framed to an overall 29" x 53.5". All the items are fairly pristine other than a few brown spots on the Rooselt ALS that miss any of the writing and do not detract. One of the greatest Roosevelts we have ever handled and certainly one of the most important ALS's as President of Roosevelt extrant.Provenance: From the Reverend Cornelius Greenway collection (see FDR collector for November 1949, page 21). Also Ex: The Franklin Roosevelt collection of Donald Scott Carmichael collection.REQUIRES THIRD PARTY SHIPPIPNGThis item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
