Clymer George Declaration Signer George Clymer Superb Signed CheckFantastic George Clymer Signature on a bank check issued by "Philadelphia Bank" for "Fifteen dollars". 5.75" x 2". Dated "September 20, 1804", and signed by George Clymer as "Geo Clymer". Small cancellation hole not affecting the signature. Strong vibrant ink.Clymer was a patriot partisan and leader in the disturbances in Philadelphia resulting from the Tea Act and the Stamp Act, and a Member of the Philadelphia Council of Safety in 1773. He was an ardent and vocal advocate of independence from Britain and a tireless proponent of a strong, united central government  both views putting him in frequent conflict with the more cautious Quaker-led powers of the Pennsylvania colony. He was elected to the Continental Congress in 1776, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
