Aaron Lyons. The writ was successfully delivered to its recipient, according to the sheriff's notation verso. The trial concerned "trespass on the case", a common-law form of action brought to recover damages from a person whose actions, either through nonfeasance or negligence, have resulted indirectly in injury or loss.Aaron Burr served as Thomas Jefferson's Vice President between 1801-1805. Burr's 20-year-long career as a politician is often overshadowed by two dramatic scandals; the 1804 duel in which he killed former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, and a series of treason charges leveled against him in 1807. In the years immediately following these imbroglios, Burr lived in self-imposed exile in England. He was later expelled and returned to the United States to undertake a low-profile legal career in 1812.
