金剛手菩薩因手持金剛杵，並且常侍於佛祖身側，被敬稱為金剛手菩薩。因其具有降魔伏怪的巨大神力，在藏區僧俗心中，金剛手菩薩是眾護法神靈之主。此尊紅髮竪立，頭戴葉冠，雙目睜視，齜牙捲舌，呈現大忿怒形象。身軀肥胖，肚腹圓鼓，帶有象徵降服業障的長蛇鏈飾，左手結印，右手高舉，並持有法器金剛杵。下身圍獸皮裙，雙腿呈展立姿態。下承蓮座，蓮瓣寬肥平緩，上下錯落，有著早期造像遺韻。背後有舟型的火焰背光。整像造型古樸，人物稚拙，工藝簡潔，線條流暢，是一尊極具美感的西藏佛教藝術作品。
