宗喀巴是藏傳佛教中格魯派的祖師，在西藏享有崇高的地位。宗喀巴像多為全跏趺坐，雙手結說法印，分別各牽一株蓮花，蓮花開於兩肩，左肩花中立經卷，右肩花中立寶劍，“左經右劍”的裝飾以象徵其是文殊菩薩的化身，這也是其身份標識。這尊宗喀巴像亦是如此，他頭戴通人冠，額頭寬廣，眉目清秀，雙目有神。其面龐圓潤俊秀，神情沈靜祥和。身着袒右肩式袈裟，內穿交領式僧衣，領口衣邊有精美的卷草花卉紋樣。衣褶流暢自然，十分寫實。束腰仰覆式蓮花座，蓮花瓣飽滿規整，是乾隆時期標準的作法。整體而言該造像造型大方，比例勻稱，人物形象生動。工藝精細，胎體厚重，金水飽滿。
