太湖石為賞石名品之一，唐人以為“石有族聚，太湖為甲。”《園冶》雲：“（太湖石）性堅而潤，有嵌空、穿眼、婉轉、嶮怪勢……其質文理縱橫，籠絡起隱，於石面遍多坎，蓋因風浪中充激而成。”可見其趣味在於天然之紋理形態。這件太湖供石較園林所用之石顯得小巧玲瓏，供於文房案頭最為合宜，形似雲煙，又如水波翻湧，浪浮千疊，孔竅通靈，又有自然扭轉之勢，更添動態神韻，叩之鏗然，有金石之聲，奇巧峻削，真乃石骨。正如白居易在《太湖石記》中所言：“撮要而言，則三山五嶽，百洞千壑，瘰縷簇縮，盡在其中；百仞一拳，千里一瞬，坐而得之。”於案頭觀此石，令人有無限的世外浮想，覺江山清思，頓發胸襟。此太湖供石配有木質底座，凸起如水花，正與供石本身相呼應。 尺寸：65×28×16cm
