An unusual blue and white small size wine ewer, Kangxi period, ca. 1700, China, A globular body on a raised splay foot, the outside of the pot depicting censers and vases as well as Buddhist emblems. The spout and handle are adorned with small stylized cloud motifs. Marked with a four-character Chenghua mark but of Kangxi period. The lid attached to handle and spout with a Dutch silver chain., H 13 cm, L 13 cm, The property of a Dutch nobleman. Provenance: Johannes Bieruma Oosting (1842-1902) and his wife Cornelia Charlotte Brantsma (1848-1894), by descent to their daughter Agatha Victoria Bieruma Oosting (1875-1968). And by descent to the present owner., A tiny bruise to the end of the spout but no other damage; no hairlines, no chips and no restoration.
