An important Emden Renaissance silver beaker "Berkemeier" type with toothed basal ring and two rows of raised lobes to the shaft. The tapering cup decorated with engraved strapwork and fruit garlands. Faintly monogrammed "HS". With remnants of former gilding. H 7 cm, weight 56 g. Marks of Isack de Voeghelaer, 1612. Provenance Horst Arians art dealership, Remels, 2003; from a Westphalian provate collection. Literature Cf. an almost identical beaker by this maker in a Swiss private collection, illus. in cat. Schöner Trinken, Basel 2022, cat. no. 121. Bedeutender Emder Renaissance-Becher Silber; mit Resten von Vergoldung. Berkemeier-Typus. Auf gezahntem Standring zylindrischer Schaft mit Schellenbuckeln in zwei versetzten Reihen. Darüber die konische Kuppa mit glattem Lippenrand; die Wandung mit graviertem Beschlagwerk und Fruchtgebinden; am unteren Ansatz ein schwach geritztes Monogramm "HS". Marken: BZ Emden mit Jahresbuchstabe M für 1612, MZ Isack de Voeghelaer (1585 - 1623/24, vgl. Scheffler Niedersachsen Nr. 592, 594). H 7 cm, Gewicht 56 g. Emden, Isack de Voeghelaer, 1612.
