明代晚期的文房陈设、实用器具，受文人士大夫慕古之情影响，出现许多仿古融新之佳作。
明·高濂在《遵生八笺》评古铜器时说：“方者以飞龙脚文王鼎为上赏”。此器正是仿文王鼎而作。
此鼎形制规矩，方唇口，左右置冲耳，长方腹，八出戟，腹部以弦纹界隔出上下两层，满铺细密的云雷纹，夔龙、饕餮纹以扉棱为中心对称而饰，显示出时人慕古求新的艺术追求。底承四飞龙脚。
通身以错金银工艺装饰，口沿及双耳以银丝嵌出回纹，夔龙、兽面纹、四足均以金丝银片点缀，古雅神秘之中透露出华丽之美。
