Signed, dated and titled on the back.Size: 60 x 32'5 x 5 cm (diptych).A painter and engraver, Santiago Serrano trained in Madrid and Paris, obtaining grants such as the Juan March and the Ministry of Culture. He made his solo debut at the Amadís gallery in Madrid, and that same year he presented himself in Buenos Aires with a personal exhibition held at the Snob gallery. Since then he has held important solo exhibitions in Spain and Switzerland, in galleries such as Fúcares (1979), Egam (since 1983), Soledad Lorenzo (1992) and Juana Mordó (1994) in Madrid and Joan Prats in Barcelona (1988), and museums such as the Español de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid (1981), the Camón Aznar in Zaragoza (2001) and the Városi Müvészeti in Gÿor (Hungary, 2003). He has also participated in fairs such as Art Basel and ARCO, and in numerous group exhibitions held both in Spain and in Serbia (Belgrade Museum of Modern Art, 1980), Egypt (Cairo Biennial, 1992), Saudi Arabia (Twaig Palace, Riyadh, 1993), Ireland (Huglane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin, 1995), Mexico (Museo de la Estampa de México D.F., 1998), Brazil (Espaço de la Estampa de México D.F., 1998), Brazil (Espaço de la Estampa de México D.F., 1998) and Spain (Espaço de la Estampa de México D.F., 1998), 1998), Brazil (Espaço Cultural 508, Brasilia, 1998) and other countries in Europe, North Africa and Latin America. He has also given workshops and classes at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, the University of Salamanca and the Marcelino Botín Foundation. Santiago Serra is currently represented at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the IVAM, the Patrio Herreriano, the Biblioteca Nacional, the Museo de Arte Abstracto de Cuenca, the Museo Municipal de Madrid, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Vitoria, the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende de Santiago de Chile, the CAAM in Las Palmas, the Royal Academy of San Fernando, the Juan March Foundation, the Municipal Museum of Art in Gÿor, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Nîmes (France), the Marcelino Botín Collection, the BBVA Foundation and other important national and international collections.
