尊像头饰螺发，布局规范，颗颗分明，肉髻缓隆，面庞丰满，双目垂俯，宛若未开敷的莲花苞，俯视着芸芸众生，神态慈祥柔和，额间见白毫，大耳垂肩。身着双领下垂式通肩式大衣，腰前系结带，衣纹刻画流畅，生动曲折，是汉地造像注重衣褶刻画的传统。下承仰覆莲式宝座，莲瓣数层叠压，写实且具有生命力。
阿弥陀佛是梵文“阿弥陀婆佛陀”和“阿弥陀庚斯佛陀”的音译略称，意思是“无量寿”和“无量光”，是主持西方极乐世界的教主，与观世音和大势至菩萨，共奉为“西方三圣”。大乘经载，阿弥陀佛在过去久远劫时曾立大愿，建立西方净土，广度无边众生，成就无量庄严功德，而为韩国、日本等大乘教区所广为崇敬和弘扬。其中汉传佛教的净土宗，则完全以往生阿弥陀佛的西方净土作为专修的法门。
