此筆筒黃花梨木整挖而成，筒壁淺雕赤壁圖，另有整篇楷書赤壁賦詩文，詩文結尾落款：丁卯之春錢塘黃易書並刻于吳中之春 申古里讀畫山房，鈐印：易之印 小松。筆筒體型粗壯，筒壁厚實，器內壁黃花梨木之天然紋理自然顯現，器外染色，另因舊時使用較久，色呈醬紫，包漿濃厚，極為古樸雅緻。所雕紋飾以淺雕技藝為主，寥寥數刀，便將傳統之赤壁圖樣刻於其上，另有刻楷書詩文，文字工整，佈局嚴謹，整體而言可謂圖文並茂，文氣十足，堪為清代文房雅玩之少見珍品。 黃易（1744-1802），字大易，號小松、秋盦，又號秋影庵主、散花灘人。浙江錢塘人，錢塘黃氏八世。兼擅篆刻，與丁敬並稱“丁黃”，爲“西泠八家”之一。
