款识：同济中学四周年纪念，钟荣光。钤印：钟荣光
简介：钟荣光，字惺可，广东广州府香山县（今中山市）人。中国近代著名教育家、岭南大学首任华人校长。1894年中举人，以擅长八股文闻名于时，后加入兴中会，创办《博闻报》《可报》等报刊宣传革命，参与反清革命活动。1899年受聘为美国教会学校广州格致书院汉文教习。后出任岭南学堂教务长、岭南大学董事会主席，1928年岭南大学收归国人自办，任第一校长。次年改任岭南大学荣誉校长。主管岭大期间，创办岭南农科大学、岭南工学院、商学院、孙逸仙医学院。1942年在香港病逝。
