造办处是一个在中国历史延革中逐渐成熟并且细分至专业化的概念。操办官家造办采办事宜。早期的宫廷规模不大，没有也不可能设置专门的造办机构，皇室用度以各地进贡为主，日常用品多为宫廷采办，重要的礼仪用度，往往指派专门的大臣督办。此炉呈唇口圆底浅腹立耳扁足式，器形仿商代晚期的扁足圆鼎。扁足形状抽象，应是从龙形足变化而来。器腹外壁阴刻鱼籽纹锦地，腹部四处开光，开光内高浮雕“喜鹊登梅”等鸟兽吉祥图案。此器器形比例谐调，錾刻及雕工精细，又因保存得当，品相至今完好，鎏金颜色亮丽耀目。更难得成对保存，实为清代乾隆造办处仿古意韵之佳器。
