地藏王菩萨为八大菩萨之一，密宗又称之为悲愿金刚、与愿金刚或金刚幢，因其安忍不动如大地，静虑深密如秘藏，故称为地藏。地藏菩萨悲愿深厚，曾发“地狱未空，誓不成佛；众生度尽，方证菩提”的大愿，常在地狱救度众生。在八大菩萨中，地藏王菩萨常以比丘相出现，造像中的地藏菩萨也大多数是比丘打扮，左手持宝珠，右手持锡杖。
此像雕刻精致，典雅庄严。菩萨为比丘相，面容饱满，眉间有白毫，鼻梁宽厚，嘴角略带微笑，表情安详。外披袈裟，着僧祗，下着高束腰长裙，衣服皱褶刻画分明，衣物的厚度质感表现到位，艺术美感强烈。全跌迦坐于双层束腰莲台之上，莲瓣勾画简洁而颇见佛韵，双手于腹前结禅定印，托宝珠。通体包浆沉厚，红斑绿锈，古朴苍茂，凸显地藏王菩萨沉稳的形象，是一尊精美的元代金铜造像。
