“狮吼观音”亦称“阿摩提观音”，是密宗信奉的菩萨之一。“狮子”有神话般的神秘色彩。古人多用之“驱邪、辟邪”。狮乃兽中之王，观音菩萨骑狮，降伏狮子，显示出观音的神功威力。观音坐于莲花宝座之上，姿态端庄。头戴宝冠，面相方圆丰润，弯眉细目，双目垂俯，现慈悲祥和之女相。身着双领式通肩式大衣，胸前佩饰璎珞，衣纹流畅，生动曲折，继承了汉地造像注重衣褶刻划的传统。坐在雄狮所撑的仰式莲花座上，雄狮站相，踩四躲莲花，目视前方，造型生动。底部四方莲台配壶门装饰造型端庄优美，具有明代汉传佛教造像的典型特征。
