Comment: Introduced in the 1970s, part number 6265 was manufactured until 1987 and is the sister part number of 6263. Part number 6265 has been assembled in several forms, in a steel or 14 and 18 karat gold case. The movement has a calibre Valjoux 727 succeeding the calibre 722-1. Bearing the Oyster signature on its dial, the case has wider proportions than the previous references and benefits from improved water-resistance with screwed chronograph pushers, a screwed back and a wider winding crown. The very high serial number of this reference 6265 certainly makes it one of the last of the production before the use of the letters and in particular the first self-winding watches with Zenith caliber from 1988 under the letter R. A sought-after variant for an informed amateur of the famous Daytona in its hand-wound mechanical version.
For detailed descriptions and illustrations of the different versions of the 6265 reference, see I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 336 - 349 and Ultimate Rolex Daytona, Pucci Papaleo Editore.
