Very Rare, Chinese Tang Dynasty gilt bronze monk staff, gilt bronze ceremonial Faqi, Khakkhara, the ringed staff carried by monk, Bodhisattvas, or Buddha. Also known as a "monk's staff," the khakkhara is often used as a ceremonial walking stick for scholars and priests. Tis extraordinary Buddhist attributes is consists of a gilt bronze shaft with trefoil large metal loop or cage like structure on the top end. Three small rings hang from each loop, chiming with the movement of the staff. The ruyi shaped loop enclosing the three Buddha inset, each with various hand gesture, seated upon a lotus throne beneath the aureole chakra nimbus. Each loop adorned with colorful semi-precious stones inlaid, including turquoise, lapis-lazuli, and red-coral. The head of the staff cast in spherical form, each carved with scrolling floral motif, crowned with lotus bud finial. The staff carved with numerous Buddha images, Buddhist Emblems, and ruyi clouds.
