success of this work was immediate and some painters such as Nicolas Lancret represented

Jacques Bousseau, born in 1681 in Chavagnes en Paillers, very early developed a certain talent for sculpture. He very quickly joined Nicolas Coustou
's workshop.
In 1705, he went to Italy, to Rome for the prestigious Prix de Rome. In 1713, when he returned to Paris, he was accepted at the Royal Academy and worked with Antoine Coyzevox.
In 1726, Bousseau completed the marble group of René Frémin and Philippe Bertrand representing Zéphire and Flora. At the
request of Cardinal de Noailles, he created the sculptures of their family chapel in Notre Dame
in Paris.
He also received the order for the two marble statues placed in the vestibule of the chapel of the Palace of Versailles.
In 1736, at the request of King Philip V of Spain, he created two groups for the royal palaces of La Granja and Aranjuez.
