笔筒黄花梨制成，皮壳厚重，色如蒸栗，质赛琥珀，是十分经典北方黄花梨家具皮壳。其形作秋葵一朵，五瓣式，瓣瓣相互叠压，呈顺时针旋转状。筒身下部浮雕二枝自底部伸出的枝叶，花叶如剑戟，花苞似长矛，恣意挥洒，神采飞扬。所见此类笔筒，以雕作玉兰花者最为常见，葵花纹者相对少见，其尺寸小巧可爱，皮壳莹润，雕琢朴中见真趣，是十分稀有且精彩的案头陈设。
