作为珠山八友中的花鸟魁首，此品是典型的刘氏风格。刘雨岑擅长画出禽鸟的灵动性，精细之中不刻板，笔情墨趣颇足，又能较好地把握粉彩料色的肌理变化，用以表现麻雀茸毛的质感，绒毛栩栩如生，极具质感。整体格有任伯年遗韵。刘雨岑曾说“要用祖国最具有民族特色的国画，来装饰最具有优良传统的瓷器，使它们结合在一起，成为我国民族文化中一朵永开不败的鲜花，作为陶瓷美术工作者，除了要对料性、对瓷画有丰富的经验和技巧之外，还必须熟谙国画用墨用色的技法。”刘雨岑（1904-1969），男，原名“玉成”，后改“雨岑”，斋名“觉庵”，别号“淡湖鱼”，安徽太平人，珠山八友瓷板画大师之一，中国陶瓷美术大师，世居江西省波阳县。
