A deer (lu) resembles longevity as it is the friend of Shoulao-the god of longevity according to Daoist belief. The carving is superb in detail, capturing the essence of the travelers ardent journey. Jadestone has a lustrous tone, with pale-celadon iridescent and attractive sporadic golden russet inclusions. The jade gives an appearance of being wet with a milk-like hue.
