向蔡巴蔡巴噶举派的创始人。他曾偕同帕木竹巴谒见塔布拉杰，从受密法。元初，实力较强大，其领袖人物受封为世袭万户长。14世纪时此派著名学者蔡巴贡噶多吉以编纂藏文大藏经甘珠尔目录和撰写《红史》而知名。此尊向蔡巴祖师像形神毕肖地刻画了人物的体貌和性格特征，宽大饱满的额头，发际呈双弧形，眉目含笑，两眼呈蝌蚪状，鼻头宽厚，嘴角上扬，下巴略为前伸，最为显着特征是脑后的月牙疤。内着覆肩坎肩、袈裟，外披大氅，右手作触地印，左手于腹部作禅定印，双足结金刚跏趺坐。工匠主要通过对发际线、眼角线条以及嘴角和下巴的精道刻画，生动地呈现了上师的面部特征及其通达了悟的心境和性格特点，使观者产生十分亲切之感。
