此二通信札中提及为曹籀出力校刊刻印之《定盦文集》（即同治七年吴煦刊本）题签之事，为重要出版史资料。曹籀。字葛民、竹书，号柳桥，浙江仁和人。与龚自珍有同乡之谊。诸生。善诗文，嗜金石书画，着有《石屋文字》、《蝉蜕集》等。早在两人结识之前他就称颂龚自珍为“天下之奇才也，尤卓荦有英气”。道光四年与龚自珍邂逅于上海僻巷，引为知己。龚自珍逝世后，曹籀辗转录得流散至福建的自珍文稿，又于同治七年积极推动吴煦出资刻印《定庵文集》，并独任校雠之役，是为龚氏身后的第一个文集刊本。其传布龚自珍著作之功，实不可没。
