刘大为，1945年生，祖籍山东诸城。1968年毕业于内蒙古师范大学美术系。1980年毕业于中央美术学院中国画系研究生班。曾任解放军艺术学院美术系教授、主任，中国文联副主席、中国美术家协会主席、教科文组织下属国际造型艺术家协会主席、全国政协委员。中国文学艺术界联合会第十届荣誉委员。
