此盖盒以乌木为材雕就，色沉而凝，稳重内敛，宝光内蕴。整作八方造型，盖身子母口相扣，盖面微弧近平，有“珠道人”行书题款，盒侧减地浮雕夔龙纹。底承圈足。
高凤翰（1683～1749），字西园，号南村、南阜、云阜、石道人等，山东胶州人。雍正五年举孝友端方，曾官安徽歙县知县，泰州巡盐分司。擅诗文、书法、绘画、篆刻。五十五岁时因右臂病废，书法篆刻乃以左手为之，毅力惊人。作品拙中得势、苍劲老辣。爱砚成癖，藏砚多至千余方，自刻砚铭165方，为“扬州八怪”之一。
