铜
此件香熏铜质，用料上乘，色古而凝重。整器甪端造型，腹部中空，以备燃香之用。此甪端体态健硕雄壮，昂首傲立，双目圆瞪，炯炯有神，整体气势威严；其角如弓，须盘结，头部可掀开，腹部中空，可作香熏使用，端口大张，以便香味飘散；其面相、毛发、兽爪等细节刻画栩栩如生，线条流畅精细；其身布流火纹，尊贵无比，为文房陈设之佳器。元明清三代皆流行甪端题材，认为是天下一统、太平安定的祥瑞之兆。今仍可见故宫太和殿、乾清宫等重要宫殿宝座两旁均置有甪端形香熏。
