Late 19th/ early 20th century|The boulder-form seal carved in low relief with a blossoming prunus branch and inscribed with a poetic passage, the reverse inscribed with a poetic couplet and signed, the seal face with an eight-character impression. 11.8cm (4 5/8in) high|Provenance: The collection of H.G. Beasley (1881-1939) (label), acquired on 19 October 1921, and thence by descent.The poetic inscription to the obverse reading: yin dao mei hua zi yi xiang, which may be translated as 'when composing poetry about plum blossoms, the words are also fragrant'.
