此件盖盒采用上等和阗白玉籽料精雕而成，玉质十分细腻，色泽洁白如脂，纯净无瑕。器体为长方形，四角微圆，盖与盒体子母口盖合，严丝合缝。盖面雕饰一对蝴蝶纹饰，左右对称，翅膀张开，以精细的绞丝纹表现各部位边缘，具有浓郁的装饰意味。盒体内部分为两格，大小一致，中部隔断处有三角形镂空，于盖体中部对应。整件器物选料考究，雕琢打磨精益求精，造型稳重典雅，不仅在造型上突出精巧、雅致之美，同时将玉质本身的美感展露无遗，纹饰刻工更于细微处见真章，颇为精妙。是一件难得的文房盖盒上品，值得珍藏。
