Description A FAMILLE ROSE 'BIRDS AND FLOWERS' OVOID VASE, HONGXIAN MARK, REPUBLICChina, 1912-1949. Of baluster form, with flaring mouth, depicting a pair of black tailed birds perched upon branches and surrounded by large flowering peony and chrysanthemum blossoms, and buddhas. Vines of the buddha's hand tree spreading across the vase. Two butterflies on the backside. The base with a four-character markHongxian Nianzhi in iron-red and possibly of the period (1915-1916), or earlier in the republic period (1916 - ca. 1920/25).Provenance: From a private collection, Massachusetts, USA.Condition: Restored condition.
