Description A FAMILLE-ROSE 'BARAGON-TUMED' PORCELAIN TEA BOWL, DAOGUANGChina, Daogunag period (1820-1850). The bowl with deep sides supported on a short straight foot, painted in polychrome enamels and with gold color, depicting eight bodhi leaves containing Buddhist emblems including the wheel of life, a kneeling Bodhisattva, an elephant, a horse and a figure with a sword, each leaf raised on a flower and between animal heads suspending beaded tassels, between borders of shou characters alternating with the Eight Buddhist Symbols to the foot and rim, the interior with a lotus blossom to the well. The recessed base with a two-character Mongolian mark.Condition: Very good condition, two minor nibbles to the upper rim.Provenance: French private collection, Paris.Weight: 113 gDimensions: Diameter 9.3 cmThe Baragon Tumed porcelain pieces such as the present lot appear to have been made at the Imperial factories at Jingdezhen as part of a service commissioned to celebrate the marriage of one of the daughters of the Daoguang Emperor to a Mongolian prince in 1842.
